Kerrie James: Putti

Putti: a new concept in clothing!

October 2008: If you'd like a Putti shirt or singlet, please email Dianne the details. Di hopes to print some more soon. There will be a charge of $10 for a child's shirt and $15 for an adult, just to cover costs.

Bored with much kids clothing, but on the other hand inspired by some of the best, Kerrie had been toying for some while with creating her own kids clothing label. This would start small, with t-shirts, but the hope was to branch out into other clothing over time.

A couple of years ago she registered the name 'Putti' (Italian, I believe, for angel), and started researching her market, suppliers etc. She also got help from her father, Ron, amongst others, to build or adapt the screen printing equipment she would need to produce the t-shirts

More important, was of course the aesthetic! Kerrie has developed a number of designs, but the most advanced is her highly stylised interpretation of the cupie doll, generally with angel wings on the back. She also was in the process of developing the physical fabric label too, that would be stitched into each item, and brand the line.

Kerrie produced a few of these before she passed away, and it's great that Dianne, her younger sister, and Shannon, Di's husband, have continued to print a limited number, including some for adults. Kerrie will be smiling down on them both.

In 2008, Wendy, Kerrie's middle sister, did a photo shoot of the first design, with our wonderful niece Ruby, and Mia, the daughter of Gianna, one of Kerrie's cousins. Some thumbnails are below. Click on an image to bring up a larger version.
