There will always be hills. Whatever we do to destroy our environment, the hills will remain.
Hope you find this information useful . To be honest, like just about every other amateur hill walking web site builder, I put the site together for my own satisfaction, not yours. Living in Australia, I can't be up the High Stile range every other week, or pop off to the Arrochar Alps for a weekend.
All the photos are mine with
the exception of one of Suilven. If you like any of them, please email
me if you would like a higher resolution copy.
Generally I won't charge for this.
If you have routes of your own you would like to add, you can email me by using the button on the left.
Added July 2007. Quicktime movie of walking the Many Peaks Range, near Townsville, Australia
Added June 2007. Walks in Sussex, England, near Lewes (Brighton). Firle Beacon and Swanborough Hill
Added May 2007. Walks in Snowdonia: Cnicht and Carnedd Moel Siabod, with movies
Added December 2006. Walks in the Grampians, Victoria - descriptions of the walks added to the movies. Also, a number of photos, including the devastation wreaked by bushfire. I spoke to the warden at Halls Gap Youth Hostel in late December 2006, and it seems the new round of bushfires have not affected the Grampians which have made something of a comebac k from the beginning of the year. All major walks are now opena again apart from Wonderland at this time.
Added April 2006. Walks in the Grampians, Victoria, Australia, just after the worst bushfires the area has seen in many years. Around half the park was destroyed, and probably around 70% of tracks were closed.
Added January 2006. Some movies of the hills around Glen Lyon and Loch Tay (including the Tarmachan Ridge and Ben Lawers). I now have broadband do these are considerably larger than the previous ones - all around 10 MB each. Hope you enjoy them! See the "Scotland" page
Added Aug 2002. Some Quicktime movies of three Australian mountains: Mt Bartle Frere, Cape / Mount Cleveland near Townsville, and Walsh's Pyramid, near Cairns. Also Ben Oss and Ben Lui, South Cluanie Ridge, Scotland, and Sharp Edge (Blencathra), Skiddaw, England. You can download a free Quicktime Movie Player from the Apple web site here
NB None of these route descriptions in any way imply rights of way (particularly applicable to Australia). Check before you walk! The details given are for advice only. Please plan your walks carefully! The hills can be dangerous.
Pubs are generally safer.
