All the links we had with the movies to their web sites have been retained, but of course

we cannot guarantee that the sites are still in existence, especially for the older movies

Most web browsers allow you to search a web page using "Find" under the "Edit" menu,

so you can search this web page for any words from movie titles, or actors etc,

although by no means all our comments include actors names.

MUNICH (MA 15+) 156 Minutes

A historical thriller set in the aftermath of the 1972 massacre of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.

Inspired by actual events, the narrative is based on a number of sources, including the recollections of some

who participated in the events themselves. The film recounts the dramatic story of the secret Israeli squad

assigned to track down and assassinate 11 Palestinians believed to have planned the 1972 Munich

massacre, and the personal toll this mission of revenge takes on the team and the man who led it. Directed

THE CONSTANT GARDENER (M) 124 Minutes

Ralph Fiennes stars as Kenya-based English diplomat Justin Quayle, whose wife is murdered, along with a

local human rights activist whom she's suspected of having an affair with. When Quayle starts investigating

the killings, he discovers a connection between local politicians and a large Western pharmaceutical

conglomerate.

 

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE (M) 150 Minutes

Midway through both his training and his coming-of-age, Harry wants to get away from the Dursleys and go

LOOK BOTH WAYS (M) 104 Minutes

An innovative mix of animation and live action, set over a scorchingly hot weekend, when people dealing

devastating diagnosis but has to wait until Monday for specialist advice. Meryl, returning from a funeral, has

until Monday to finish her project or lose her job and Andy is thrown by his girlfriend's ultimatum and has to

THE PROPOSITION (MA 15+) 100 Minutes

A powerfully gripping story that tells of two brothers in conflict, the film has a truly epic sweep. Set in the

1880s, "The Proposition" opens in the middle of a frenzied gunfight between the police and a gang of

outlaws. Charlie Burns and his brother Mikey are captured by Captain Stanley. Together with their

psychopathic brother Arthur, they are wanted for a brutal crime. Stanley makes Charlie a seemingly

impossible proposition in an attempt to bring an end to the cycle of bloody violence. The original

minded and driven lawyer (Laura Linney) who does not believe in God. Thus is the story of Emily Rose,

told by those in the trial and the priest who watched her through her possession.

 

FLIGHT PLAN (M) 90 Minutes

FOUR BROTHERS (M) 104 Minutes

Four adopted brothers (Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin, and Jack Mercer) come to avenge

their mother's (Fionnula Flanagan) death at what appears to be a random killing in a grocery store robbery.

However, the boy's investigation of the death reveals more nefarious activities involving the one brother's

(Benjamin) business dealings with a notorious local hoodlum (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Two cops (Terence Dashon

Howard, Josh Charles), who are trying to solve the case, may also not be what they seem. While a fairly

standard tale, their are still several twists and unexpected turns that keeps things interesting.

 

ELIZABETHTOWN (M) 112 Minutes

fails miserably and he is dismissed as a consequence. Things go from bad to worse when Drew is told

violinist, hears Andrea play and wants to meet him, but Janet and Ursula are not very welcoming. They have

become very possessive of this charming and talented young man, who has become part of the family.

and 12 year old American girl, Aimee (Emmy Clarke) are all injured but alive; Aimee's parents and the young

man's girlfriend are dead. On their release from hospital, Emily invites the survivors to her house to

recuperate - and wait for the authorities to locate Aimee's relatives. Aimee is so traumatised she can't speak,

but Emily warms to her as if she were her own child. When Aimee's uncle Tom (Chris Cooper) arrives, an

academic who's been estranged from Aimee's family since before her birth, Aimee's fate hangs in the

balance. Meanwhile, Inspector Girotti (Giancarlo Giannini) is getting closer to solving the mystery of the bomb

on the train.

flattering her with his adulation and infatuation - Julia responds, expecting the romance to snap her out of

her midlife crisis. But Tom soon finds a pretty young blonde actress Avice (Lucy Punch) more suitable to his

age, even using his connections with Julia and Michael to find Avice a role in their next play. When Julia

discovers that Michael and Avice are also having an affair, she shows just what a great actress she really is,

on an opening night none of them will forget.

Vera Drake (Imelda Staunton) is a loving middle aged mother and wife to her working class family in 1950

London, cleaning houses to help pay the rent. She also visits the old and sick in her neighbourhood and

cares for her elderly mother. Her cheerful disposition hides a secret extension of her caring nature: she

illegally helps young women who get into trouble and can't afford the high priced, quasi legal abortions of

the upper middle class set. When one of her patients falls seriously ill and has to be hospitalised, Vera Drake

is found out, and she has to face the consequences, as well as the devastation it causes within her family.

 

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (M) 135 Minutes

friend, and ex-boxer, Scrap (Morgan Freeman) helps run the place. Frankie argues about god with the

local priest and prays daily for help with his demons, especially his guilt over his estranged daughter.

He doesn't want any more burdens when a determined 31 year old woman, Maggie (Hilary Swank)

turns up asking to be further trained by him, and no one else but him. Besides, Frankie doesn't train

girls. But Maggie, with an estranged family and boxing her only burning ambition, wears him down, with

a little sidelines help from Scrap, and Frankie starts to shape Maggie into a fiery fighter who moves up

fast, and the two form a close bond. Maggie is ready to take a shot at the World Welterweight

Championship within 18 months, but when a tragic accident intervenes, Frankie has to make the

toughest decision of his long life.

AVIATOR (M) 162 Minutes

Just before World War I, the young Howard Hughes (Leonardo DiCaprio) inherits a fortune in the

shape of his father's drill bit company. He begins to use up rather a lot of that fortune on a war

movie set in the air, Hell's Angels, doing his own aerial stunts and starting to design his own

planes. Working outside the studios, Hughes is regarded as a reckless outsider, especially when

he decides to reshoot the film with sound - his first but not last visionary decision. The film's

success brings him celebrity status and the company of stars like Katharine Hepburn (Cate

Blanchett) and later Ava Gardner (Kate Beckinsale). His affairs with both end in separation - but

both women retain an affection for him. Also staring Alec Baldwin.

 

LUTHER (M) 115 Minutes

In 16th century Germany, Martin Luther (Joseph Fiennes) abandons the law to become an Augustinian

priest and theologian, under the mentorship of Fr Johann Von Staupitz (Bruno Ganz). He becomes

disillusioned by the established practice of Catholic hierarchy selling so-called sacred relics indulgences

- promise of God's forgiveness and time off their purgatory - for cash to the poor. He nails his 95 point

thesis to the cathedral door in Wittenberg, which is seen as a heretical act and a challenge to Rome's

Papal authority. When he refuses to recant, he is excommunicated and Germany explodes in religious

violence.

 

THE PACIFIER (PG) 90 Minutes

takes on love and lust: wine buff Miles, still conflicted about his divorce of two years earlier is all

trepidation, but for Jack, this is a happy go lucky last bed-hopping hurrah. The friendship is put

under strain as they pull in opposite directions, and the wine, women and song routine turns into

a complicated, painful dance..

man. Nick has to seek the hitman help of Jimmy and Jill, however, when Cynthia is kidnapped

by the Hungarian mob (she was also held hostage in the first movie), which includes Lazlo

(Kevin Pollak), the brother of Yanni from the first movie.

Aileen Wuornos (Charlize Theron) had a difficult and cruel childhood plagued by abuse and drug

use in Michigan, becoming a prostitute (and pregnant) by the age of 13. Wuornos eventually

moved to Florida where she became a highway prostitute, servicing the desires of semi-truck

drivers. This movie focuses on the nine month period in 1989 and 1990 during which she had a

lesbian relationship with a woman named Selby (Christina Ricci), and during which she also

began murdering any of her clientele who tried to rape her.

 

HARRY POTTER & THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN (M) 135 Minutes

happens when he has to go on the run after an incident where he was unable to control his
